Adolescence is a time of intense growth, not only physically, but emotionally and socially as well. Navigating the transition from childhood to adulthood comes with its own set of challenges, which can include struggles with identity, peer pressure, academic stress, bullying and emotional upheaval. At the Momenta Clinic, we recognize these unique aspects and are here to help adolescents find their path, voice, and self-confidence through these formative years. We also work with teens from diverse backgrounds and appreciate the nuances and complexities teens face related to gender, culture identity, ethnicity and language.
Our compassionate and evidence-based approaches to teen mental health therapy address a range of emotional and psychological needs.
Teen Therapy for Self-esteem and Social Anxiety: Crafting paths towards confidence and social ease, fostering environments where teens can find their voice and strengthen their sense of self-worth.
Teen Therapy for Trauma and OCD: The adolescent period is one where youths can experience traumatic experiences, including assaults, bullying, difficult family environments and relationship challenges. For teens who have experienced trauma, it is important for them to access support that is sensitive to their struggles, while also creating space for empowerment and increasing self-worth which can be damaged by adverse experiences such as trauma. We provide exposure and response prevention for teens experiencing OCD, which can include obsessions or compulsions related to contamination/germs, counting rituals, mental obsessions, intrusive thoughts, symmetry, checking rituals and more.
Adolescent Counselling for Peer Pressure and Coping Skills: Equipping young individuals with the tools for self-expression, exploring their own needs and limits and managing challenging social and peer situations. Our approach to these challenges involve striking a balance between validating the toll these challenges can take, increasing interpersonal and emotional awareness, while exploring a teen’s unique strengths and meeting gaps with psychoeducation and strategies.
Teen Support for ADHD and LD: We understand the challenges that issues with attention, cognition and learning can pose in a teen’s life, including implications for family, personal, social and school/work. We provide services to help teens manage their ADHD and/or LD using coping strategies, problem solving, psychoeducation, increasing collaboration and managing time/schedules to help increase organization, efficiency and helping teens meet the goals that are meaningful for them.
Adolescent Counselling Services for LGBTQ+: Offering a safe, affirming space for LGBTQ+ adolescents to explore and affirm their identity in a supportive environment, while managing the unique challenges that can affect these youths including isolation, low self-worth, comorbid mental health challenges and discrimination.
We employ a variety of adolescent counselling services and techniques, including but not limited to:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness Practices
Value-Based Work/Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

These evidence-based approaches are tailored to fit each teen’s unique journey, fostering growth, resilience, and self-discovery.
